Lorella's Story

Lorella has always been a writer. From a very young age she has always written stories and doodled sketches. At the age of 6 she had written a few stories about a cat and she still hopes that one day she can expand these to proper story books. As well as writing and drawing, Lorella loves to play piano and violin, passing her Grade 2 exams in each. Her favourite game is Minecraft.

During the Pandemic lockdown, Lorella was also quite ill. She was diagnosed with a rare brain condition, Chiari Malformation, for which she had surgery in 2021. (Lorella wants to write a book about her experience with this in time). She would keep herself lifted by drawing and writing. When her parents saw the initial "book" for Jolly Loves Jelly, they knew they had to encourage her to take it further.

After some searching, they found Ann Brady, an author in her own right. Through her organisation Kids4Kids, Ann mentors young writers, helping them on their way to becoming published authors. You can find more information about Kids4Kids in the Link Section below, or from the link at the top of the page.

With Ann's help, Lorella has developed her book, supplied the original concept artwork for a lot of the pictures and now, at the tender age of 11, (she was 9 when she started the project!) is super excited to have her first book published.

Lorella is already working on her next book, so keep a lookout for lots more from this budding young author...

This is probably the best book in the world that combines Giraffes and Jelly.

Mentor and Publishing

Lorella's book journey would not have been possible without the help of Ann Brady, who through her organisation Kids4Kids, has nurtured Lorella through developing her book, with both writing and illustration, to getting it published and out into the world.

Kids4Kids is an organsisation that offers services within the writing world, based on charitable principles. Their aim is to help and encourage young writers and illustrators achieve their goals of being involved within the writing world.

If you have a young writer that would like help, Lorella would absolutely recommend Ann as a wonderful mentor. The links in this section are the websites where you can see how Ann can help.
